hi nirvana,
thanks for visiting my blog and giving me some pune restaurant tips. That's awesome! I had heard of Vaishali, but not the other two. I"ll try to check them out soon.

I have one other pune question ... i've heard that there are flamingos somewhere around here, but I can't figure out where. I really want to see a real-life flamingo! Any tips?

:) Thanks,
Amey

Refer to http://news.webindia123.com/news/Articles/India/20071221/853232.html
Its seems u can see them near Pune at Kerwadi and Bhigwan (100 kms from Pune on Sholapur highway: see http://addithebirde.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html)
In fact at http://www.foliageoutdoors.com/html/short_excursions.htm u will find that they have a bird watching day tour on 3-Feb starting right opposite your favourite local restaurant (Savera on Ferguson Road; if that isnt karma, what is? :-) ). Also see http://www.rakeshdhareshwar.com/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=42

Well, there are Siberian flamingoes at Harishchandragad (see http://avinashimdr.blogspot.com/ or http://exploredlands.blogspot.com/2007/08/natures-call.html) but since its in the interiors u would need a local person to guide u. That place would be a 4-5 hours drive from here, i guess.

There are flamingos at Malshej Ghat (see http://www.maharashtratourism.gov.in/mtdc/HTML/MaharashtraTourism/TouristDelight/Hillstations/HillStations.aspx?strpage=MalshejghatHillstation.html )
this is around 164 kms from here

There are flamingos in Mumbai too, google for more information. Contact http://www.bnhs.org/ (the natural history society) for more information.

Finally they say that for some places the season to see flamingos is monsoons, for others it is winter. So u will have to check this before going to a place.

I think the above information is enough to start-with. Do let me know if u need any other help. And btw, the 3 restaurants I mentioned are within a 1 kilometre area in a straight line on Ferguson Road.

I notice from your profile that you are from California. Wonderful place! I stayed there for sometime many years ago. Have some very happy memories of the place. And as a yoga afficianado, let me point u to an interesting statement in my blog of Oct 5, 2007 with Paramahansa Yogananda saying ' You can practice yoga better in California than anywhere else on earth. The climate is more conducive'. Wow, lucky u.

Enjoy
